Covid Ode……or lament !

Big Bike Covid ode

The text, in case anyone is inclined to read it !

I own a big, I mean, BIG, Motorbike.
It sits there, in place, firmly parked

The world has changed to such a degree
Used to look forward to being at home
Would crave for days with zero traffic
Now I am always here looking out
Never knew, I’d miss the morning commute

Ah! To start my beast, wear my helmet
Venture out on roads and feel the breeze
Some fresh air, some exhaust fumes
In memory they both feel the same
Empty roads or traffic jams, feel the same

I own a big, I mean, BIG, Motorbike.
It sits there, in place, firmly parked

Open my cupboard and my jacket’s there on top
Knee-guards and riding boots on the shelf below
3 pairs of leather gloves resting side by side
My shark helmet, which probably saved my life
All of them looking at me, asking what the heck?!

I own a big, I mean, BIG, Motorbike.
It sits there, in place, firmly parked

Going down to the basement every few days
Starting the bike, still sitting in place
Cranking it up, just to feel the rush
Always knew, accelerators pumped adrenalin
At the most the beast gets to saunter

Who’d have thought, a long way away
An idiot had to, just had to, eat a raw bat
And so!
I own a big, I mean, BIG, Motorbike.
It sits there, in place, firmly parked !
